Are the apples ready to pick? Great question!
Callie, the official apple tester, performed the sugar/starch test on Ginger Gold, Gala, and Honey Crisp. All three had not reached the acceptable level for sugar content.
The cloudy rainy days make the apples take on water and grow. They need dry sunny days to sweeten up or get to the appropriate sugar level.
The grapes also have not reached the appropriate sugar level according to our test.
We know the waiting is hard for you and for us but we will continue to monitor and test to determine maturity and let you know as soon as we can when apple picking will begin. Your patience is appreciated.
Let your mouth water a little longer for a sweet, juicy, delicious and fresh apple picked straight from the tree. It will be well worth the wait.
Looking forward to visiting with you during the apple picking season.
